Salon Team Photoshoot Prep Guide

The Archive Photography Studio

We’re excited to photograph the team and create a clean, elevated, and cohesive look for the salon. This shoot is designed to be quick, smooth, and consistent across all stylists—while still allowing a little personality to come through.

Please read this guide carefully so you come fully prepared.

What to Wear (Required)

We are going for a clean, all-black look across the entire team.

Required:

• All black outfit (top + bottom or full piece)

Your outfit should be:

• Clean

• Wrinkle-free

• Lint-free

• Well-fitted

Avoid:

• Logos

• Heavy patterns

• Faded or worn black clothing

These black outfits will be the primary images used across the website and branding.

Timing & What to Expect

Each time slot will be 10 minutes or less, so being ready is important.

Your session will be broken into two parts:

1. Core Shots (First 5–7 Minutes)

We will capture both of your main images during this time:

• Standard Headshot

  • Clean, professional, front-facing

  • Used for website profiles and booking platforms

• Personality Shot

  • More relaxed and expressive

  • May include movement or a prop

  • Still in your all-black outfit

These are the priority shots and will be completed for everyone.

2. Optional Accent Look (Last 3–5 Minutes)

If time allows, we may shoot an additional look with a subtle accent or variation.

• This could include:

  • A different piece (ex: jeans, layered item, etc.)

  • A small pop of color

  • Slight styling change

Important:

• This portion is optional and not guaranteed

• It will only happen if we stay on schedule

• The all-black look will be the primary images used

Time Matters

Because we are photographing a large team:

• Please arrive on time and fully ready

• There will be very limited time for adjustments

• If you are late, we may only be able to capture the core shots

We’re aiming for a smooth, efficient flow while still giving everyone a great result.

Hair & Makeup

Please arrive fully ready for camera.

• Style your hair how you would for your ideal client

• Keep makeup clean, polished, and camera-ready

• Avoid trying anything completely new that day

Think: your best, most confident everyday professional self

Props

We will use tools available on-site, but you’re welcome to bring one personal prop if it represents your style.

Examples:

• Favorite shears

• Custom tools

• Brushes or combs

• Signature products

Keep it simple

How to Prepare

To make your session quick and smooth:

• Look in the mirror and practice a few poses

• Think about how you naturally stand and move

• Relax your shoulders and posture

• Focus on feeling confident, not perfect

We’ll guide you through everything, but being slightly prepared helps a lot.
